Can Mobile Marketing Help Your Small Business?

Your Table Is Ready 150x150 Can Mobile Marketing Help Your Small Business? Can mobile marketing really help your small business even in this economy? Let us take a look at some of the reasons why it can help and may be the answer to your marketing problems if you have tried other more traditional forms of advertising.

Mobile marketing has many forms from creating smart phone apps, mobile banners for internet enabled phones, social media and the most effective and commonly known form of text message marketing. In short it is sending offers, specials, discounts and announcements to the mobile phone of your customer base. Customers opt in to receive the message from you by texting in a keyword that you select to a 5 or 5 digit short code. They are opting in to give you permission to send them relevant information about the business.

Marketing in the mobile channel provides a much higher read rate, redemption rate and return on investment compared to direct mail, radio, television and email. This is due to several factors:

1. Your customers always have their mobile phone with them. Even if they do not have a smart phone, they can still receive the text message. Sent text offers are read within 15 minutes and you will have customers in your door the same day. Now you have a cure for rainy day sales instead of slashing labor to save your budget.

2. Messages are read instantly. No matter where they are, people hear the beep of a new text message and read the message within minutes. Most people have to be in front of a computer to read an email, at home to read direct mail, purchase a newspaper to read your print ad, in the car to hear your radio ad. With text marketing you know your message is being seen.

3. Mobile marketing is 100% opt in. Customers must take action to get your future offers. People are telling you they want your offers, they want to spend more money with you, they already like your business. Sending them offers through text is giving the customer what they want and they will reward you with new business.

4. The return on investment is very high. Depending on your offers as much as 2000% for mobile marketing due to the opt in nature of this medium, the highly relevant offers, the high read rate and the low cost compared to other marketing methods that it is. The cost for most companies is less that $100 a month and for each redeemed offer it is less than $0.20 a customer. Direct mail is often $0.60 a piece mailed out and with a 2% redemption rate, your actual cost for each customer can be several dollars.

If your return from traditional advertising has slid over the years due to increased competition, a changing customer base or changes in customer habits and trends, mobile marketing may well be your answer.

It is great to see more support for the local business opportunities in the Text Messaging and Mobile advertising space. Helping the small businesses to understand how easy it is to utilize this powerful tool is the first steps to helping forward thinking local businesses stay ahead of the competition.
