New Mobile Marketing Google Places with HotPot Live and Ready to Roll
Google Places with HotPot is the latest geo-social mobile marketing app for smartphones. This app takes on other mobile marketing apps such as Foursqaure, Yelp, Facebook Places and even Urban Spoon. The app gives you personalized results of business categories you select. It will also let you share recommendations with friends and show you what is available near your location by displaying businesses and reviews left by other users.
It pulls data from Google Places so make sure you have claimed your listing and have it optimized for local search. Users can rate your business while in the business by using the “Rate Now”" feature on the app. You can also leave reviews from a computer via google.com/hotpot. Business owners can view all of their reviews and encourage their best customers to leave reviews here, even those without the app. The app also pulls reviews from other social sharing sites, just as Google Places does. Another reason you should be an active business owner with these sites.
A big differential feature of HotPot is it will recommend other businesses to users based on their reviews and friends. Google is most likely to recommend businesses that have a highly optimized Places site, complete with photos and positive reviews. From their blog, “And Places with Hotpot not only helps you find places near where you are, it gives you the best places to go for you by personalizing your search results.”
Take the time to check your review sites, make sure they are updated and current. Also encourage your best customers to leave reviews and feedback on your social sharing sites.
